Hello out there. I safely made it back to Boulder, Colorado yesterday... and thank god! I wasn't too hard on myself last night, but I did finally do some wash (errr... running clothes).
This morning I arose at the ripe hour of 9:00 (in my defense- it's only 8:00 in California). I quickly began to tackle the unpacking process. About 4 t-shirts later, I gave up.
If I forgot what heat felt like living in the bay area, I was quickly reminded upon my return to Colorado. There is just something far more inspiring about waking up to warm, sunny weather and this:
...instead of waking up to this:
That would be the fog coming in over the bay area... every day... of the summer... boo...brrr.
Anyways, when I woke up in Boulder this morning, I thought, "Hey, I'm going to do something I have been dying to do all summer- go to the pool." Sounds so simple, huh? But when I realized last week that I had only put a bathing suit on ONCE this summer... I was appalled. In case you weren't aware, San Francisco and Berkeley have trouble making it into the 70's in the summer. This equals a chilly summer for Kelly.
I also can't describe my excitement at being able to sit out on my patio with a chilled glass of wine or a delicious Colorado brew... am I lame? Wait... don't answer that. Of course, I'll at least wait until noon- that seems acceptable.
On that note, I'm going to unpack one more item that needs to see a little love this summer- my bathing suit! Don't you worry about my training schedule- I plan to hit up a DetermiNation group run tonight. It's always fun to run with other people ;-)
TRIVIA: In stark contrast to the bay area, on average, about how many days of sunshine does the Denver Metro area see per year? The winner of this can have a picture of me at the pool today enjoying my iced tea through a pineapple straw.
Thanks for reading- Happy Summer!
